Dear Friend, no; there is not the least chance for my ever being able to accept any invitation for a public meeting actually. I am labouring under a persisting cold and coughing a great deal. But generally the state of my health and the mpossibility of speaking loudly and long without sufifering are a perennial obstacle.
Pray, convey my heartfelt thanks to our friends in Halifax for the very kind thought and a deep sense of sympathy for the work they have devoted themselves to. I have been, earnestly and anxiously watching the spread of the Cooperative idea as the beginning of an immense social revolution which will do more for the brotherhood of man to man than ali the eighteen centuries of Christianity have done. Provide they avert every danger of material egotism by taking up the whole of the moral, intellectual, economie problem and sympathizing with ali ita dhTerent manifestations, I look to the working classes of England and Europe as the promi-nent element of the Future.

Dear Mr Holyoake, De Boni's address at Naples is Largo delle Pigne n 108 .
In the Working Man for March I find a letter from Tallandier about social-isme and myself. It is ali mistaken. I cannot enter the list, but I should feel very xnneh obliged to you if you conld pen a few lines in answer. To say that no philosophical or politicai school has ever advocated the abolition of individuai pro-perty it is silly. Communism does so in its very name. Babeuf, Cabet, a whole communistic periodical press in France before 1848 and during that year advocated openly that view. Systems like S. Simonism or that of Louis Blanc, or others which advocate the concentration of ali capitals and implements of labonr in the hands of the State amount to the same. It is precisely against the se system s that I am writing. As for cooperation, that is establishment of voluntary working men associations, producing through capital of their own, and therefore getting ali the result of production, giving labour as a basis to property, not only have I preached it, before ali the French soci ali stic Stubbub (?), since 1832, but am continuously preaching it now and practically working for it in Italy, fax more than ali the sys-tems-mongers in France. Capital for production belonging indivisibly to the Asso­ci ation distribution of the profits according to the work done and constituting individuai property of each associated this is my principio.
