George Perkins Marsh a Bettino Ricasoli
Turin, August 9, 1861. V
Your Excellency, I have the humour to enclose herewith a copy of a letter from W.m H. Barstow, Consul of the United States of America at Palermo, complaining of alleged injustice published at Palermo, on the 23rd of July, which article, it appears has already been brought to the noti ce ofthe Italian Go-vernment by the public authorities of Sicily. Mr. Barstow's letter, it will be seen, is intended as a defence to the charges brought against him by the article in question, and I have no reason to doubt the accuracy ofhis statements.
