National Congress al Turai: Our members were duiy invited to attend die Congress of the Istituto which was hcld in Turin, Italy, on Scptember 1- 4, 1956. Àlthough the National Commitiee and the locai Committee of Turin had gra-ciously invited the Executive Sccretary-Treasurer to be their guest during the meeting of the Congress, he was unahle to aceept the invitation. Members of the American Division who were in Italy at ihe Lime, attcnded the Congress.
Correspondenee : There has been considcrable correspondence with Professor Ghisalbcrti and with severa 1 members of the American Division on matters related to our activities or to rcsearch projeets.
Gift from the Cultural Attaché of the Italioti Embassy: At the suggestion of the Esecutive Secretary-Trcasurer, the Cultural Attaché of the Italian Embassy, Marqttis Uguccione R. Di Sorbello, who is also a member of the American Di vi­sion, has seni to cach member, with the complimenta of bis office, a copy of the Atti of the 32nd Congress of the Istitnto held in Florence in Scptember 1953.
Barbieri History Prize: The Executive Secrctary-Treasurer, submitted a sugge­stion to the; Advisory Board of the Cesare Barbieri Endowment for tlie esta­blishment of the Cesare Barbieri Priae in Italian Ilistory to be awarded by the Presidcnt of the American Division on recoramendation made by a committee, appointed by him, for the best work on Italian history. In vicw of ccrtain admi-nistrative difficultics occasioned by the unlimely death of Mr. Barbieri, the Advi­sory Board is not inclined to make ibis commitment at this Urne.
The Executive Secretary-Trcasurer was in forni ed by circular letter, dated Home, October 29, 195(5, that the 36tb Animai Congress of the Istituto will take place October 19-23, 1957, in Salerno. Professor Ruggero Moscati will present the main paper on the the me of the Congress which will be La crisi finale del Regno delle Due Sicilie >> (The Final Crisis of the Kingdom of the Tino Sicilies) ,

NOVARA Verbale della seduta del Consiglio direttivo del Comitato:
Oggi, 7 dicembre 1957, alle ore. 15, si è tinnito presso la sede dell'Istituto tecnico "0. F. Mossotti " il Consiglio del Comitato novarese dell'Istituto per la storia del Risorgimento. Presiede il prof. Alessandro Aspesi, presidente del Comi­tato; sono presenti i consiglieri comm. Dante Avondo, prof. G. Barbero e prof. R. Rogora, segretario. Sono assenti giustificati il gen. comm. Giulio Pelliccili e il prof. Vincenzo Fontana.
Il segretario riferisce sull'andamento del Comitato nell'anno 1956, informando che il numero dei soci è salito a 77, ai quali vanno aggiunti 8 soci vitalizi e precisamente: Amministrazione provinciale, aw. comm. Enrico Camaschclla, amba­sciatore Vittorio Cerniti, cav. Venanzio Coda, Comune di Novara, Istituto tecnico " Mossotti " di Novara, prof. A. Ivi gli a di Romagnano e Banca popolare di Novara. Le entrate sono state di L. 97.376 e le uscite, compresi i versamenti alla presi­denza centrale, di L. 92.225, L'avanzo è stato, quindi, di L. 5.151. Informa che le principali manifestazioni del 1956 sono state la visita al Museo del Risorgimento di Milano e l'affissione di un manifesto per il XXIII marzo, nella ricorrenza anni­versaria della battaglia di Novara.
La relazione del Segretario e i bilanci vengono approvati.
Viene poi stabilito:
1) di curare l'affissione di un nuovo manifesto per il XXIII marzo;
2) di prendere gli opportuni accordi per la sistemazione nei musei citta* dini dì una sala riservata ai cimeli del Risorgimento, sulla quale appaia al più presto una targa;
3) di organizzare altre gite in località di importanza storica;
