NOTIZIARIO
PREMIO LIVORNO '61. -11 Comune di Livorno ha indetto il 3 Premio Letterario Livorno 1961 per il quale i partecipanti dovranno osservare le seguenti modalità: al Premio possono concorrere tutti i cittadini italiani con uno scritto (articolo, studio, mo­nografia, biografia) inedito o edito nell'ultimo triennio. Tale opera dovrà svolgere il tema Livorno emporio commerciale nella seconda metà dell'800 . Il lavoro di cui trattasi dovrà essere trasmesso alla Giuria in n. 10 copie. Sarà gradito ma non indispensabile ai fini della valutazione che l'opera eia illustrata da grafici o riproduzioni fotografiche e possibilmente corredata da citazioni bibliografiche, specialmente di carattere critico o storico. I concorrenti dovranno presentare alla IX Ripartizione, Ufficio Istruzione, l'opera con la quale intendono concorrere al premio entro il 15 novembre 1962. Il plico con­tenente le 10 copie potrà essere portato a mano presso il suddetto ufficio ritirandone rela­tiva ricevuta, oppure potrà essere inviato a mezzo posta raccomandata, purché risulti spedito entro e non oltre la suddetta data dal timbro dell'ufficio postale mittente.
La Giuria che avrà poteri insindacabili di accettazione, di selezione e di definitivo verdetto, è cosi composta: Presidente: aw. Ugo Bussano, assessore, in rappresentaza del Sindaco; Membri: prof. Alvaro Ballantini, assessore; aw. Enrico Berti, presidente del Comitato dell'Istituto per la storia del Risorgimento; prof. Alberto Razzanti; rag. Elio Zeme, assessore; prof. Giorgio Mori; prof. Domenico Novacco.
Il premio di 400.000 lire stabilito dal Consiglio comunale sarà indivisibile. La Giuriu avrà facoltà di segnalare con graduatoria altri lavori meritevoli e l'obbligo di rimettere i verbali alla Civica Amniinistrazione, la quale si riserva la facoltà di pubblicarne le con­clusioni. La Giunta Municipale stabilirà le modalità per il conferimento inquadrandolo nelle manifestazioni cittadine.

SOCIETY FOR ITALIAN HISTORICAL STUDIES. - The Society for Italian Historical Studies, an affiliate of the American Historical Association, again oflers a prize of 200 for the beat unpublished study in the history of Italy, of article or essay length. Since the object of the award is to invite and encourage fresh interest in Italian history the prize is oflered for a first or second study in the field. Only articles or essays that are judged to be worthy of publication by a scholarly journal or in some other scholarly medium of publication, without estensive editing, ìvill be considered. Acceptance of a study for publication durine the period of competition July 1, 1961 to July 1, 1962 will not debar its consideration for the award. Doctoral dissertations presented at American universities may also be presented by interested university depart-ments, one candidate per department. American scholars, and foreign scholars regulary connected with an American institution of learning, are eligible for the Prize. Manuscripts not exceeding 20,000 words vili be accepted and rated as essays. The Society rcserves the tight to withhold the prize if no manuscript deemed worthy of the award is subroitted. Form: A doubléspaced typescript ribbon copy, one carbon on firm paper, and at least two other carbon copies. Footnotes, in conventional style, manual form, should be inchided on the page to which the references occur, either in the body of the text or at the fbot of the page. The address of the author, a brief vite, a brief statement of bis interests, and the date of composition should be encloscd. Manuscripts must be in the hands of Professor H. Stuart Hughes not Inter than July 1, 1962. Authors desiring the return of tbeir manuscripts should enclose nocessary postage.
