Snch a meeting might he held in conjunc-tion with other historical or literary associations. Professor Cammett askcd whether an Italian history geminar may not be dcveloped similar to the other seminars now held at Columbia University. In view of the conflicting views preseti ted by the members, Preaident Lane anthorized Professor Powell and bis committee to continue ita deliberaiions and to present recommendations at the next meeting of the Society.
Professor Charles Delzell, Chairman of the Nominating Committee, reported tliat the Committee recommended the re-elcction of Professor Howard R. Marraro (Columbia) to the position of Executive Secretary Treasurer; and Professor S. William Haipcrin (Chicago) to the post of President. It was moved and seconded that the recommendations of the Nominating Committee be accepted. The motion was carrier! unanimously.
At ibis point President Lane yieldcd bis chair to Professor Haipcrin who expressed bis appreciation to the Society for the honor bestowed npon bim.
The members, on recommendation of Professor Lane, approvcd the issuance of another NewsLctter in the Spring 1964. Professor Kogan was appointed editor of News-Lettcr. He was congratulated on the fine work be did in preparing the first (1963) News-Lettor:
President Halperin appointed Professor Cammett as Chairman of the Program Committee for the Society's 1964 meeting whicb will be held in Washington, D. C. Professor Cammett suggested as a possible topic for the 1964 meeting: <c The Origin and Nature of Fascism . He was empowered to consti tute the Program Committee and to communicate the nomes to the Preaident for approvai and ultima tely to the Executive Secretary.
Professor Charles Dcbsell was appointed as member of the Advisory Committee (1967) to replace Professor Felix Gilbert whose term of office expired tbis year.
The meeting adjourned at 5:50 p. m .

The members of the Society for Italian Historical Studies, assembled on Decomber 28, 1963, in Pbiladelphia, Pennsylvania, for the Eighth Animai Meeting, heard with pleasure and satisfaction the message of greetìngs sent to us by Professor Alberto Maria Ghisalberti, President of the Istituto per la storia del Risorgimento italiano. We wish to express our deep gratitudc to Professor Ghisalberti for the intense interest he has-always shown in the work of our Society and we are particularly grateful to bim for the encouragement he bas always given. to help the Society achievc the purposes and aims far which it was cstablished. It was he who gave us the originai incentive to form the Society for Italian Historical Studies and for this we owe bim a debt of deep gratitudc We sincerely hope that the bonds which. unite the members of our Society with the Istituto per la storia del Risorgimento will ever he fruitful in furthering the scholarly studies of American, and Italian historiana .

PADOVA. Il 4 febbraio u. a. e stata tenuta presso l'Università degli Studi l'Assemblea generale dei soci; la partecipazione e stata particolarmente numerosa. Il Commissario straordinario, prof. Ettore Anchleri, ha svolto una relazione riassuntiva del periodo detta ano gestione, prendendo le mouse dallo vicende che avevano reso impossibile nel febbraio 196?, la regolare co8tit.ii/.ionc del Comitato. Ha, quindi, dato notizia sulla consistenza numerica del Comitato (59 soci alla fino del 1961,71 alla data dell'Assemblea); sulle conferenze svolte; aulla pubblicazione del Carteggio Cavalletto (l'Assemblea seguiva di pochi giorni la pubblicazione del Carteggio Volpo-Cavalletto a cura di L. Briguglio); sedia preparazione delle celebrazioni del 1966.
