In the absenee of Professor Robert Lopez, the Chairman of the 1964 Prize and Citation Coiumittec, the Executive Secrctary announced that the Prize Award of 200.00 is awardcd to Professor Kenneth Pratt of the Los Angeles State College, for his essay on Rome the Eternai and that the Citation is awardcd to Professor Pani Oscar Kristcller of Columbia University the text of the Citation to Professor Kristeller is attacbed to this report.
The Executive Secrctary read a letter of greetings from Professor Alberto M. Ghi-salberti of the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento Italiano. The Executive Secrctary was authorized to express the Society*s appreciation of the deep interest and valuable support it has received from Professor Ghisalberti e ver sìnce Society was est abli shed in 1955. The expression of grati t mie to Professor Ghisalberti was signed by ali members present at the meeting.
Professor Cammett, who saw Professor Ghisalberti in Rome earlier this ycar, stated that Professor Ghisalberti is anxious to receivc scholarly articlcs on the Italian Risorgi­mento from American scholars to be published in the Rassegna; that Professor Ghisal­berti is anxious to establish an exchange between his Rassegna and other American histo-rical reviews; and that he will bc grateful for any information on Italian history existiug in American collections. manuscripts, etc. in American libraries and archives.
Professor James Powell, the Chairman of the Committee on the Second Annual Meeting, read his report. After considerarne discussion, the members reached what seemed to be a responsible cousensus that a second annual meeting is wcll worth a try, and that the Committee be instructed to exercise freedom of jndgment as to: 1. When? In the spring or fall? This year or next? Evcry year or less often. (It was suggested that since 1965 is the year of the Dante celebration, the practicability of holding the first meeting this year be explored); 2. Where? (It was suggested that it might be well to hold the first meeting in or near New York City, to improve the chances of a good attendance); 3. A program.
Professor Powell, while willing to serve as a member of the 1965 Committee, askcd to be relieved of the ehairmanship. Professor John M. Cammei was appointed Chair­man, with power to complete the committee, hearing in mind: o) distribution of the special interest of members by perioda; b) convenience of consultation.

Sergio Fenoaltea, Ambassador of ltaly, the Executive Secrctary invited the members of the Society to a reception tendered by His Excellcncy in honor of its members at the Italian Embassy, 1601 Fnller Street, Washington, D. C, at noon On Wcdnesday, December 30, 1964* immediate!y following the Socicty's academic session. On this occasion Bù Excellcncy is to present Professor Raymond Grew the Unità d'Italia Gold Medal and Certificate
Announcemeni of 1964 citation and Prize Awards. Professor Howard R. Marrani, Executive Secrctary Trcasuror of the Society for Italian Historical Studies, on behalf of Professor Robert Lopez (Yale University), the Chairman of the Citation and Prize Awards Committee of the Society for Italian Historical Studies, announced at the Busi­ness Meeting of the Society, held in Club Room A of the Hotel Shoreham on December 29th, 1964, that the Citation Award was confezred on Professor Paul Oscar Kriatelle. (Columbia University) and that the Prize Award was won by Professor Kenneth Jr Pratt (Los Angeles State College).
