The Executive Secretary-Treasurer then made Iiis report. The Society lias 184 memhers as of Deceniber 28, 1972, thè largest membership in its history. Tbis is a net increasc of fifteen members over 1971. Twenty-three new memhers joined while eight members lefl. The fmancial accounls revcal, as of December 28, 1972, a sum of 2,065.99 in the checking account; 2,420.77 in the savings account; and a 5,000.00 savings certificate pnrchased with, the money from the Marraro bequest. The checking account figure includes recent receipts for subscriptlons to Italian journals for 1973 and will soon slirink as subscriptions are pjaced. e stili face the problem of slow and erratic delivery of journals from Italy, primarily the conscqucnce of the breakdown of the Italian postai service.
Elisa Carrillo, Chairlady of the Prize Award Commi t tee for 1972, announced that our Sociely's prize for a hest unpublished manuscript was unanimously awardcd to Chùre La Vigna for her biography of " Anna Ivu lisci od*: From Russian Populisra to Italian Refor-mism. The prize money again was made nvailable from the America-Italy Society through the good oflìces of its Executive Director, Hedy Giusti-Lanham. No citation was awarded to a senior scholar. Shc indicated three improvements for the future which the Commi t ice recommended: 1. More publicity about the prize; 2. A clear definition of a young scholar; 8. Nominations by the members to the prize committee of senior scholars deserving citation for their contributions over a long career.
James Powell, speaking for the Nominaling Committee in the absenee of its Chairman Robert Wohl, nominateli. Elisa Carrillo to membership on the Advisory Council, replacing Raymond Grew whose terni had expired. No further nominations were made from the floor and Miss Carrillo was elected unanimously.
The Executive Secretary-Treasurer then moved an amendment to the ByLaws to Enable the Society to obtain officiai certilicalion from the Internai Revenue Service as a tax excmpt educational association. Moved: " that the foUowing be added to the ByLaws of the Society: Artide IX. DISSOLUTION. In the event of the dissolution of the Society its remaining ossets after payment of ali bilia shall he dislributed to the American Historical Association. "'
James Powell moved an amendment to the effect that the sum which mìglil go to the American Historical Association sliould be added to the principal of Howard Marraxo's bequest to the AHA.
The amendment was passed and the motion as amended was then passed. The final version reads: Arride IX. DISSOLUTION. In the evènt of the dissolution of tht Society its remaining assets after payment of ali hills shall be distributed to the American Historical Association, to be added to the principal of the bequest which Howard R. Marraro made to the American Historical Association.
The Executive Segretary-Treasurer then brought up the questìon of future relations wilh the American Historical Association. The AHA in the future may he charging reni to the rdated speciali/ed historical societies for meeting rooms holding academic sessions and business mectings. Prcsident Clough. warned of the possibllity of being excluded from the AHA annua! meeting. René Albrccht-Carrié discussed the dcsirahility of maintaining our present Cordisi relations with the AHA and hoped the AHA would feel the same way. The mezubcra agreed. The meeting ended al 6:20 p.m. .

JQ presidente ha indicato le iniziative di cui si farà promotore il Comitato: a 1) Inviare una lettera all'Ente Ragione Abruzzese con richiesta di contributi per la manutenzione dd fabbricato' di Penne (Palazzo De Cesarla) di proprietà del Comitato e per ie iniziative culturali da assumere nd proesimo anno.
