Àt present it is said that the Emperor has sent one of the chief persons in the financial department to Rnssia,43) for the purpose of raising there, if possible, a loan of fifty niillions of ronbles. **J The expenditures of the governnient this year will be enormous, as the daily expenses of the troops in Lombardy alone is estimated at one hundred thousand florins.
Since the date of my last despatcn no ontbreak bas taken place in Milari. Eight or ten of the nobles, supposed to have been most inflnential in the insur-rection have been arrested and sent to the fortresses of Laybach and Graetz. Some persons are of the opinion, that the Milanese bave been intimi dated by the immense military force qnartered among them: whilst others assert that they have been deterred from acting, by some assurances whach they have received from the agente of the governnient, that their condition will be ameliorated.
