the Executive Secretary intends in the fatare to include on the subscription list only those journals which have given bini an exact subscription cost and a commitment not to increase it during the year.
At 8:00 a.m. on December 28, the Executive Secretary attended a meeting for repre-sentatives of societies affiliated with the AHA, called by President-elect David Pinkney and Executive Segretary Mack Thompson of the AHA. Relations between the AHA and the societies were discussed, and suggestions for cooperation made. The proposai advanced last year that the societies pay an affiliation fee to the AHA was not revived; however, the AHA does pian to ask that societies that wisb. to have their activities announced in the Program of the annual meeting of the AHA should pay a nominai fee for this purpose. The Societies were requested to encourage their members to join the AHA.
As of December 21, 1979, the funds of the Society were as follows: N.O.W. Account: 8250.25; Marraro Bequest: 5224.41.
The Chairman of the Award and Citation CommiLtee, Alan Cassels, next made his report. The Award for the best unpublished manuscript by younger scholar was given to Alice A. Kelikian for her dissertation, e From Liberalisru to Corporatism: Brescis, 1915-1926 . The citation to a senior scholar was made to David Herlihy; the text follows these minutes.
Raymond Grew presented the report of the Marraro Prize Committee. The SIHS Mar-raro Prize for 1979 was presented to Alexander J, De Grand, for his Bottai e la cultura fascista (Bari: Laterza, 1978).
The Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Ronald G. Witt, was not able to be present, so Alan J. Reinerman presented the Committe's nomination: Alan Cassels for President, David Herlihy for Vice-President, and Victoria De Grazia to the Council. There were no nominations from the floor, and the nominees were elected unanimously.
Under the heading of Other Business, Felix Gilbert described the new journal, The Journal of Itaìian History, and its plana for the future.
The Business Meeting was adjourned at 5:45 pan. It was followed by the Social Hour, until 7:30 pan.
