politics are eternai and it is the duty of the human race to use the past experiences of mankind for the reconstruction of the future pian and the history. Savarkar through Mazzini's biography endeavoured to teach ultimate truths and basic principles of politics to his countrymen. 2) There is no death of the nation and God loves those who employ ali conceivable weapons for the upliftment of the nation.21) Ali troubles, from agony to death, should be borne in the spirit of the duty at the aitar of the Nation. Love of the nation, Mazzini taught brings man oloser to God . He exhorted, Love your family, love your country, youngman, love human race.22* The independence of one must be the independence of ali. If we become independent, we must bring independence to others also .23) Mazzini's life and politicai essays, Savarkar told, must be read by youngmen. Mazzini's utterances read like universal truths meant for the mankind, and it was for us, wrote Savarkar, to make use of them for our good.24) The purpose of the book, explained Savarkar, was to bring out politicai opinion of the great man which would direct the path of Indians.25)
Italy presented a peculiar spectacle of foreign domination and internai jealousy. It took fifty years of continuous struggle before the country could be freed. In the history of the world , noted Savarkar, there is no other national revolution which is full of great deeds.26) Italians took up sword to realise basic principles of human existence. Mazzini's politics was God's will,27) and was not a sordid game of power politics indulged in by some scoundrels. Mazzini proclaimed that rehgion should inforni politics and politics should inforni religion. W Both rehgion and politics the upliftment of the nation and the human race in common as its goal.
Man cannot contribute towards human upliftment if he is shackled by the bonds of slavery. We are betraying God if we do not breathe in freedom and help others to breathe in freedom. This is the message of God, of religious scriptures. When a patriot uses his sword in the service of God's duty the mightiest power cannot face it. Savarkar wrote that the book was the story of a Man whose inspiring deeds cannot but touch the chords of the meanest heart. No Maharashtrian could keep away from remembering Maharashtra's Mazzini. In Italy Ramdas is called Mazzini and in India Mazzini is Ramdas. 30) Both point to the same moral. If politics is religion, it is holy, and if religion is politics, it is honest . 3D
