SOCI ONORARI. Comunichiamo con profondo dolore la scomparsa del profes­sor Kalikst Morawski avvenuta il 2 febbraio 1988. La figura dello studioso e dell'amico dell'Istituto sarà illustrata nel prossimo fascicolo della Rassegna.

LIV CONGRESSO. Tutti i soci devono aver già ricevuta la circolare-prenotazione. Poiché la posta fa spesso brutti scherzi, si ripete che il congresso si terrà a Milano dal pomeriggio del 12 a tutto il 15 ottobre. La quota di iscrizione, da spedirsi alla sede centrale è di L. 25.000 comprensiva dei familiari, con scadenza fine giugno. È stata richiesta Pautorizzazione per gli insegnanti, i presidi, i direttori didattici, i bibliotecari, gli archi­visti di Stato.

PREMIO MARRARO. Diamo qui di seguito la motivazione completa della assegnazione del Premio 1987, a seguito di quanto già comunicato nel numero precedente della Rassegna: The Award Committee of the Society for ltalian Historical Studies is happy to announce that, after reviewing the works submitted for the award by the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento Italiano, we nave awarded the prize to Francesco Guida: L'Italia e il Risorgimento balcanico: Marco Antonio Canini. This study of the multì-faceted career of Marco Antonio Canini, a figure unjustìy neglected, is a riehdy-textures work diaplaytng broad archi vai researoh, percepii ve analysis, and persuasive conolusions. Canini is a figure which hi stori a ns of the Risorgimento have encountered in various texts, such as in the Mancini lettere and those of Tommaseo or De Gubernatis, or in references to his many pamphlets and articles: but his full exploits, remarkable and often bizarre, have not previously been brought cui and put into their historical context. Guida's wonk is al so valuable for revealing the Balkan politicai machinations and iintellectual circles of the tixne as they interacted with Csnini'-s idealistic propaganda efforts on behalf of Balkan federarion, We believe. too, that the benefactor of this award, Professor Howard Marraro, would have lifced Guida's study. Filippo Mazzei, an object of Marraro's particular interest, bears comparison in many ways to Canini, since both men, one in the 18th and the other in the l9th centuries, spent many years outside of Italy, pursuing idealistic goals inspired by the spirit of the Risorgimento which was Professor Marraro's ideal .

BARI. Il 22 febbraio u.s. l'Assemblea generale dei Soci del nostro Comitato si è riunita presso la Biblioteca provinciale De Gemmis per procedere al rinnovo delle cariche sociali per il triennio 1988-1991. Ha tenuto la relazione il Presidente uscente prof, Matteo Fantasia, che ha ripercorso i dieci anni della sua Presidenza dal 1978 ad oggi, con il ricordo dei soci scomparai e sottolineando le iniziative di maggior rilievo realizzate nel decennio, dai cinque congressi regionali sul Risorgimento in Puglia e nel Mezzogiorno, a quello su Garibaldi e su Massari nei rispettivi centenari della scomparsa, al seminario
