in 1920 29); Ram Das Gaur's Italy ke Vidhayak Mahatma in 1920 *; Radha Mohan Gokulji's Garibaldi and Mazzini in 1922 3n; and Nand Kumar Dave Saran's Italy ki Swadheenta athva Uska Aàhunik Itihas (Liberation of Italy or its Modem History).32) Ram Das Gaur's book Italy Ke Vidhayak Mahatma contained a map of Italy and the life and works of various Italian leaders such as Alfieri, Mazzini, Gioberti, Daniele Manin, Cavour, Garibaldi and Victor Emmanuel.33* The book also dealt with the moral lessons drawn by the author and addressing to the Indian readers to learn frorn their lives. } The book contained a very strong preface in wliich Mr. Gaur wrote that a friend, who prohibited him to disclose his name, extended the collection of biographies of Italian personalities written on the basis of Builders of Modem Italy to the convener of the Gyan Mandai two years back (1918).35> Several editions of the book appeared from time to time which were edited by different persons. The preface of the book contained a brief geography and history of Italy up to Paris Peace Setdement36) and the editor then went on to teli his countrymen that how Italy not big in size than our United Provinces in area, torn by dissensions, occupied by Spain, France and Austria, under the leadership of a small state like Piedmont its ministers have liberated the country, unified it and brought it under the parliamentary system.373 Patriots like Mazzini and Garibaldi, in spite of being different in their ideas and policies, had the same aim and objective, the liberation and Unification of Italy . To suppress their movements, the Austria did every thing in its power and even prizes were declared on their heads. They went in exile in foreign countries, struggled hard, suffered for the sake of their country and their lives were saved not for their ownselves but for their country39) They were rebel and revoltee for Austria but were saviour and God for Italy. Exhorting his own countrymen the editor wrote,
