Biograpbies of Italian Nationalists in Telgu Literature
Telgu, the predominant knguage of faidra Pradesh, is spoken by a population of about 45 million. It is second largest spoken language in India after Hindi.86* Telgu literature also did not remain untouched with the ideas of Mazzini and Garibaldi. The first biography of Mazzini in Telgu language, Mazzini Jivitamva (Life of Mazzini), by Kakinada M. Acyutarmayya was published in 1930. In the same year Manavadharmamulu, a translation of Mazzini*s Duties of Man by Mudiganti Jaggannasastriwas published. Garibaldi too became the attraction of Tamil literature. His biography, Garibaldi Jivitamva (Life of Garibaldi) by R. Svamicandari Saranu was published8*0 in 1934.
Biograpbies of Italian "Nationalists in Gujrati Literature
A few biographies of Mazzini and Garibaldi were also written in Gujrati language. The first such biography, Garibaldi num Jivan Cantra (Life of Garibaldi) was written by Narsimbha Ishwarbhai Patel and was published89* from Baroda in 1907. La-la Lajpat Rai's Book Garibaldi in Urdù language was translated in Gujrati in the same year by Nurmuhammad Khalibhai Muniar.90) People of Gujarat were acquainted with the history of Europe from the writings of the poet Datpatram Dayabhai (1820-1898). L. G. Gnavekar, the biographer of Mazzini in Marathi, who became Collector of Baroda, appears to be responsible for introducing Italian Risorgimento in Gujrat.9l)
A book on Italian Risorgimento in Gujrati language was published in 1930 from Ahmadabad. The title of the book was Italy no Mukti Yojna (Pian for Freeing Italy).98 Another biography of Garibaldi, Italy num Taranhar (The Saviour of Italy) by Vahora Rasulbhai Nabiji was published93) in 1935.
